Need $’s for a new venture? On our next episode, we’ll help you study the alphabet of finance. VC, PE, Hedge Funds, Bank Loans, and how they affect the financing of your company. The real Language of Business!

Steve Segal was in our studios discussing Private Equity earlier today. He is an Executive-in-Residence / Lecturer at Boston University’s School of Management where he developed, and now teaches, a graduate level course in private equity and leverage buyouts. He is the faculty advisor to the undergraduate and MBA equity funds and the investment research directed study and Security Analyst Society Research Challenge team. Mr. Segal is also a Special Limited Partner of J.W. Childs Associates, where he helps guide the strategic direction of several of the firm’s portfolio companies through his role as a director, and also co-invests with the firm, which he co-founded in 1995. Mr. Segal brings 20 years of private equity investment experience and applied finance to the classroom. His LinkedIn profile is here.

Our other guests in this episode will be Carrie Schwarz, discussing Hedge Funds, Larry Gennari who will focus on using attorneys as advisors, and Barry Sloane on bank loans.  This episode will be airing in mid-February.

The term PE—private equity—is loosely tossed around in business today almost as much as a basketball is during a weekend pick-up game. But what does it mean and how is it different from investment banking? Steve Segal should know. He brings 20 years of private equity investment experience to his clients and business students at Boston University!
