Independent Business TV Show Gains Traction

Language of Business” Highlights and Teaches Entrepreneurs

*** For immediate release ***

Needham, MA (June 23, 2015): The Language of Business ®, an independently produced news magazine show focusing on entrepreneurship and the issues surrounding it – has extended its viewership to more than two dozen states in less than two years.

The 30-minute show, now broadcast on 80 stations nationwide, will celebrate its 20th episode next month.

“This show addresses the challenges and questions that all entrepreneurs face and provides insights that can help them in growing their businesses,” says the show’s host and co-creator Gregory Stoller. “It’s given entrepreneurs a stronger voice, globally, nationally and in their local community.”

The Language of Business ®, which features a mix of in-studio interviews and on-site locations, was launched to spread the word about a Boston College MBA course Stoller teaches in Carroll School of Management. It soon became a broader forum to highlight and educate entrepreneurs.

“The show has become much more than we initially envisioned,” said Don Kelley, the show’s Executive Producer. ” It’s now become a great resource for entrepreneurs.”

Recent topics include Branding for Success, the increasing popularity of the Made in the USA label, Global Commerce with a Local Touch, Decoding the Alphabet of Finance and the Business of Sports.

“Whether through luck, gut instinct, or maybe a bit of both, entrepreneurial forums or articles in the popular press tend to mirror the very topics we’re covering each month on the show,” Kelley said.

The Language of Business ® also includes a blog with complementary footage, business resources, and entrepreneurial advice.

While the show is hosted by the Needham Channel, its goal is worldwide reach. It is distributed on a national media platform for public access stations and broadcasts episodes with English language subtitles online to attract international viewers. Additionally, the show employs a non-YouTube broadcast format for countries like China, where such technologies are blocked.

“We’re always looking for ways to push the envelope with the show,” said Marc Mandel, Needham Channel executive director. “Every episode takes on relevant topics that entrepreneurs need to know about. And we’re able to draw in a range of guests from around the world by being creative with technology.”

When the show began, Stoller and his colleagues would drive to individual stations to peddle DVDs, following Jim Koch’s method of personally distributing Sam Adams beer to local bars.

“Now people recognize what we’re doing and they see the value of spreading the word about entrepreneurship,” Stoller said.

Executive Producer Kelley said he is looking forward to the continued growth.

“We keep pushing each other on every aspect, ensuring that we have comprehensive coverage of business topics, a good mix of high caliber guests, and high production standards. I could easily see this show eventually appearing on one of the top national networks or through its affiliates.”
