TV Filming: Art and Business

We began filming for a new episode today: Art and Business. Our first guest was Joanne Kaliontzis, an emmy award winning graphic designer who has mid-career become an artist. It’s fun discussing with her which “side” of her brain is more dominant, depending on the day. Here’s her web site.

Our team then went on location in Newton, MA to visit with The Icing on the Cake. Paula Kirrane is a “newbie” at this, with over 30 years of running her business under her belt. 🙂 They greeted us with an impressive Language of Business cake and cupcakes for our entire team. Furthermore, Paula still finds way to innovating even after 3 decades.

In conclusion, we’ll complete filming tomorrow with Jim Grace and Eliane Markoff.

Joanne Kaliontzis: I began my career creating motion graphics for broadcast and cable television. I have additionally worked with the Discovery Channel, TLC, ESPN, History Channel, HGTV as well as many television stations. I have won a shelf full of awards which includes 2 Emmy’s and many Broadcast Designer Awards.

Currently I focus on design for local businesses and non profit clients. I am also a freelance art director for a small advertising agency. This year I have also worked on four documentary films as a graphic designer and animator.
