This week’s BU Questrom MBA VCIC Student Profiles

BU’s local Venture Capital Investment Competition took place last week and now we have our Regional team in place. Here are profiles from two of the competing students, Kenneth Hall and Aleksandr Biyevetskiy.

  • Describe in a few words your vision and goals for your career. What are you most passionate about?

Kenneth: I’m most passionate about creating opportunities and solving challenging problems. I’m interested in many different industries including emerging technology, entertainment, media, and finance.

Aleksandr: I would like to greatly enhance my entrepreneurial and general business skills, so that I can successfully introduce and bring out new, daring, innovative, and disruptive products to the marketplace.

  • Provide a brief account of your background and prior work experience:

Kenneth: This past summer, I was working as an Internal Consultant for iBM. In this role, I was working collaboratively with the Global Industry General Manager, the VP of Strategy for North America, and the VP of Strategy for Europe. These leaders were so experienced in the field that – as someone with minimal experience in the field – it was a real challenge to provide some value to them and tell them something new.

Aleksandr:

  1. Former non-commissioned officer at RI Army National Guard, with a tour of duty in Iraq.
  2. Worked as a digital marketing and sales manager in Green Home Improvement company disrupting the way people shelter their homes from the elements.
  3. Digital Marketing and SEO consultant at a national enterprise agency for fortune 1000 brands.
  4. Global Search Engine Optimization (SEO) manager at Kaspersky Lab.
  • In a few words, explain what you are looking to gain from this VCIC experience:

Kenneth: I am looking to learn more about all aspects of the venture capital investment process. I don’t think I am particularly interested in one area over another, but being familiar enough with all aspects of the deal to negotiate with the entrepreneur would be extremely valuable.

Aleksandr: As an early-stage technology entrepreneur, I would like to learn more about the world of venture capital so that I can leverage this knowledge in my future negotiations with VCs.
