BC ICP stuck in China due to plane

0

6 hour delay on Tarmac due to an engine starter failure. They tried to swap out with an arriving plane for parts, but then the crew timed out, due to FAA worktime safety regulations. We then had to go through the airport in reverse to go through immigration and get our luggage. It took two hours, and nobody was prepared. A tiny little bus got us to a hotel near the airport perimeter. It’s actually quite a nice place.

We don’t have any clean clothes but most importantly everyone safe, our luggage is here, and everyone is in good spirits. We have a 3:30 AM wake up call followed by a 4 AM departure. Our ETA in Boston is going to be 12 noon on Monday. We will look back on this day and laugh. Another great memory of Beijing.
