Thanks to the HKU Alumni Association of New England

Many thanks to the Hong Kong University Alumni Association of New England for inviting me to be the keynote speaker at their annual Dim Sum lunch. I very much enjoyed speaking about business changes in Hong Kong and China, and the food was terrific. Several photos follow below.

The University of Hong Kong is the territory’s oldest institute of higher learning and also an internationally recognized, research led, comprehensive university. While recognising the strength of its heritage and traditions, HKU also engages in frontier research and academic endeavours that reflect and address the needs of a fast changing, knowledge-based world.

There is one thing about the University that will not change: the importance of its people. HKU’s greatest assets have always been, and will always be, its staff, students, alumni and friends. I look forward to exploring, as a community, the opportunities we already have and those that we can newly create. Together, we can stride confidently into the future, with HKU making ever-greater contributions in education, research, leadership and public engagement, locally and globally.

The HKU Alumni Association of New England (HKUAANE) was founded in 2004 by Professor Yum-Tong SIU and Professor Sau-Fong SIU to provide forums of discussion and meeting among former student and employees of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), who have established residency in the New England region (MA, ME, RI, CT, VT).

Our mission is to promote educational and cultural exchange opportunities between the University of Hong Kong and institutions of higher learning in New England; to enhance understanding of economic, social and cultural aspects of residents of New England who have immigrated or were located from Hong Kong; and to promote economic and cultural connections between Hong Kong and New England residents.

Each year, the Association host annual luncheons, gala’s and forums among graduates and former employees as well as alumni and friends of the University of Hong Kong. The Association also provide mentorship to HKU exchange students as well as professional career workshops who attend colleges and universities throughout the New England region.
