Language of Business (Episode #6): Real Estate Trends
When it comes to real estate, people either love or hate the market. And these days, I’m not sure there’s a lot to love unless you’re selling. We’re emerging from a pandemic, but of course, the Fed has raised interest rates instantaneously to try and fight off inflation. And commercial rents are still taking their own sweet time, reverting to pre-pandemic levels. That being said, there’s always tomorrow. Richard McCready is with the Davis Companies. He said if you can deliver consistent returns, that is the first and foremost thing investors are looking for. Raj Singh is with Jones Lang LaSalle and runs their Proptech Fund from the West Coast. They are investing in companies bringing new technologies to buildings and others around financial services. Ashish Ramesh comes from a very successful real estate and hotel background in his family, and landed a great job in the industry after graduation from BU. Finally, we speak with Michael Goldman, a third time guest, who’s president of MGA, a commercial real estate company. Over 95% of his team has been back in the office since summer of 2020, since “they’re all in it, together!” Run time is 25 minutes and thanks to Randy Barth for video, Don Kelley for his audio production work, Susan James Leyva, and the Questrom School of Business, Boston University for its support. Of course, an equally huge thanks to our four guests!
