BU local VCIC competition begins in a few hours…

The local VCIC competition at BU’s Questrom School of Business is only a few hours away from starting. 3 entrepreneurs from hi-tech and low-tech companies will present and 15 MBAs go head-to-head competing in three teams. One of the teams will be crowned the winner of today’s event, and the judges will also select 5 of out of the 15 to represent BU at the Regional VCIC Competition in February / 2016. Follow us all afternoon for updates.

Of those competing today, seven have lived in another country; together they have an impressive 96 years of work experience and they hold advanced degrees and certifications ranging from CFA licensure to FINRA Series 7 to PhDs. They have worked for consulting firms, a game development company, the US Army, banks, biotech companies, financial services companies, and in one case, as a professional poker play. Go Terriers!

The Venture Capital Investment Competition® (VCIC) began at UNC Kenan-Flagler in 1998 as an educational event for MBAs to learn about venture funding. VCIC simulates the entire VC investment process in an extremely condensed time period, providing MBA students with a unique first-hand glimpse into the world of venture capital.

Now a flourishing internationally-recognized program, VCIC serves approximately 1,500 individuals each year—1,200 MBA students from 60 top business schools, 175 venture capitalists, and 125 entrepreneurs.
